G-Line Power Supply Control Cabinet

A couple of areas in the P.S. Control Cabinet differ depending on the transmitter configuration. One item is determined by the incoming line voltage. Other than that, the cabinet is the same for all G-Line transmitters.

The Visual Bias P.S. is different between the 17H / 16L and the 30H / 30L.

The Visual Screen P.S. in the 35H and 50H is different to that used in the 17H, 30H and 16L, 30L.

Two different versions of the High Voltage Power Controller (Vectrol) covers either 208/240 or 380/480.

Note 1. Two different versions of contactors were used in G-Lines transmitters. The original type, known as an "A Type" had a 240 VAC operating coil (two connections to the coil). The "A Type was prone to failure causing buzzing or chattering, even jack hammering due to a defective copper "Eddy Current" ring in the Lower Base Assembly. This was replaced by a "B Type" contactor with a DC operating coil (three connections to the coil). The same 240 VAC was supplied to the coil but diodes within the coil rectified the AC to DC. A pair of external coil clearing contacts mounted in the frame opened after the contactor mechanically closed, reducing the current to a holding current in the coil.

Both the "A Type" and "B Type" have now been replaced by a form fit Vacuum Contactor which is far superior. All contactors have the same stock number! If you are not sure which type you have, please call for Technical Assistance.

Note 2. The original Aural and Visual Screen Power Supplies have been replaced by a new multi purpose supply. Jumpers within the supply are set for the appropriate current limiting, metering and output voltage that allows the supply to be used in either the Aural or Visual position. Its current capability also allow it to be used in a TTG-35/50H visual. Now, one Power Supply cover ALL G-Lines.
